About Me?
Counselling involves talking with a trained professional. I have a degree in Psychology; I'm trained counsellor with working experience in Germany, Czech Republic, and France.
I have experience with a wide range of issues including stress, depression, grief, confidence, and relationships. I do not provide online counselling to any person who is under the age of 18 unless contacted first by an adult caregiver and asked to do so. Most of my counselling is via Skype webcam, but I do work with clients in person as well.
Why Skype Counselling?
Skype Therapy sessions follow the same format as traditional face to face counselling sessions with the only difference being the format in which the treatment is delivered. Lasting 60 minutes, sessions take place on a weekly basis, at a time that suits you. If necessary, some clients can choose to have to therapy session per a week. Due to the nature of these appointments, they can take place at any location. I currently have clients from all over the world.
Skype Counselling offers an accessible, convenient and perfect alternative to traditional face to face therapy. You can have the same experience as face to face counselling but in the comfort and privacy of your own home or office.
Skype counselling is increasingly becoming the counselling and therapy format of choice for people with demanding and inflexible schedules or family commitments. Skype counselling can be the solution when competing demands threaten to undermine your attempts to resolve psychological, emotional, interpersonal and/or behavioral problems. Sometimes trying to find the time to meet regularly with a counsellor or therapist can add to stress and anxiety as you try to juggle numerous responsibilities.
How many sessions will I need?
Very difficult one to answer. It really depends on the issue. If you have been holding onto negative thoughts for a long time, it will take time to unravel these, and this could take anything up to 12 sessions or even more, again depending upon the issue(s). Sometimes, however, all we need is just to have a few sessions so we can "offload" to someone impartial to feel so much better. What is also certain is that these feelings that you are now experiencing will continue until you can no longer ignore them.
Confidentiality
Our work together remains completely confidential, and we will not discuss what we talk about in sessions outside of the sessions. However, there are some exceptions to this.
I am required to attend supervision as part of my ongoing professional development and to ensure that you receive the best possible service, and I may discuss, entirely anonymously, some details of your case. This is common to all ethical counsellors and practitioners.
If, in exceptional circumstances, I felt that either you or someone else were in danger or at risk of harm, while I would discuss with you first the possibility of breaking confidentiality if the risk was serious enough I might have to break confidentiality.
Any other formalities/requirements?
We will need to have an Agreement between us to set out boundaries such as confidentiality, timekeeping, notice, etc. It is probable that I shall set some "homework" between sessions. The process of counselling is to get you have more insight into yourself so that you can live the best life you can. Therefore, depending upon the issue, there could be quite a lot of "thinking" and "challenging" to be done, and if this only happened during our sessions, it would not be very beneficial. Some "thinking" or "written" tasks may well be set for us to discuss in our next session.
