NAACP Legal Redress Bridging the Gap between "The Community and the Law" Event
LEESBURG, VA – There are too many headlines on individuals being killed. The headlines could be read differently if only a different decision or direction had been made. The Loudoun NAACP Legal Redress Committee is taking steps to educate and advocate for the community by hosting a “Bridging the Gap” forum with The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) facilitating the “Law and Your Community.”
The Law and You Community is a nationally recognized hands-on interactive training program for young people of all ages designed to improve their communication with the law enforcement community.
This forum will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Ida Lee Recreation Center in Leesburg, 60 Ida Lee Dr NW, Leesburg, VA 20176
This forum is a place where all members of the community, whether they wear the badge or not can come together and have a candid and honest dialogue about the tension and mistrust between civilians, minority communities, and law enforcement officers.
Present for discussion will be Leesburg Police Chief Greg Brown, Loudoun County Sheriff’s office and the Loudoun Branch NAACP President Phillip Thompson, FBI and ACLU. There will also be a Spanish interpreter at the event.
We will be serving food, light refreshments and giving away door prizes.
