Sewing Classes - Apparel Construction - Fashion Design
Come learn how to sew this summer!
8 week class begins Monday and meet Monday through Thursday, June 11 through August 2 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
Absolutely no sewing experience necessary! You will learn how to operate one of our provided sewing machines, learn many basic and advanced seams and seam finishes by completing two Sample Notebooks, apply those techniques to a Sample Garment and a Final Garment of your choice by sewing a commercial pattern.
This class will prepare you to sew on any sewing machine, follow a commercial pattern and for taking further classes at Mesa college such as Apparel Construction II, Draping and Flat Pattern Making.
The lecture class is 3 college credit units and the lab is 1 college credit unit for a total of 96 hours of class instruction and sewing time at a bargain for $46 per unit, that's $184 for 96 hours of class time or just $1.92 per hour. Course Description: This course is a study of basic apparel construction using standard and industry methods. Emphasis is placed on garment construction, sewing equipment operation and maintenance, and analysis of fitting problems. This course is required for all fashion design majors and is open to students interested in fitting and constructing clothing.
