Plaid Daddy Entertainment - Boston
In May of 2000, Jim Dunlop started a diverse musical project with some friends from Berklee College of Music that would eventually become the band Plaid Daddy. In just a few short months Plaid Daddy gained attention from some of New England's top agencies and club owners alike for their musicianship and professionalism. The size of the audience at the live shows began to increase dramatically as well, with the public recognizing the quailty of musicianship and diversity in the band's sound.
By 2002, Plaid Daddy had become a full time career for bandleader, Jim Dunlop. It was around this time that Kiss 108 FM added Plaid Daddy as the first and only band in the station's history to be exclusively featured on their weekly “What’s Happening" report. Word of mouth from the fans, clubs and the constant radio airplay led to an increase in the number of private events as well.
Plaid Daddy has provided entertainment for weddings in the mansions of Newport, RI to the islands off the coast of Maine, from the pristine beaches of Cape Cod to some of Boston's finest hotels... and beyond. A couple even flew the band out for their wedding in Aspen, CO choosing Plaid Daddy over their favorite local wedding band.
Other bookings include college events for Northeastern University, Nichols College, Simmons and more.
Corporate parties for clients such as Vertex Pharmaceuticals, C.S.N. Stores, Wayfair LLC, Metso Paper International, and more.
In 2009 Walt Disney World Florida offered Plaid Daddy a 6 month contract at the theme park which Jim turned down. A second, more lucrative offer came which Jim also declined citing that Plaid Daddy was enjoying the New England attention. Walt Disney's response was, "Keep our direct line if you ever change your mind, Jim!"
The past 3 years ('09 - '11) ended up being the most diverse and fortified Plaid Daddy Entertainment years to date and the calendar is quickly filling up for 2012!
Plaid Daddy is officially recognized by the Small Business Association as a regional act that provides gainful employment to professional musicians.
In this professional market Jim has been named "Producer" and quickly learned that having the Plaid Daddy Band is great...but having a strong group of educated musicians involved in the business has been even greater!
